do hitchhikers ever go home?

I have a question about hitchhikers that I've never seen addressed:
What is their final end? Does the owner ask to have the book mailed
to them, or what?

This would be a good thing to know! I just set out my first
hitchhiker last weekend and I know that it'd be oooooh so cool to
eventually get it back and keep in with my books and memorabilia. If
the stamp was in good condition I KNOW I would get a new book and
release it again, but having that first book (and I guess any
subsequent full ones) would be awesome!

Anyone ever had one get full??

I found a hitchhiker and posted it on the HH site  the LBNA site and also contacted the owner. The owner replied to me and said they wanted to retire the box. So arrangements were made and the box went home.... Chuck & Molly in CT
